Phase 2 of this year's Christmas Odyssey got off to a flying start on Tuesday with an A-Cappella selection of carols and assorted Christmassy songs at the Millbrook lodge care home in Brockworth - including an unrehearsed Christmas medley and a slightly hilarious rendering of "Gaudete". The audience loved it and some of us were laughing so much we couldn't sing...
Thursday saw a performance in the Atrium at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, with one passing patient even trying to dance to "Rhythm of Life", and included our now ritual mangling of "Memory". Our singing of "O Holy Night" does get better and better though. Lots of money in the collection buckets for the Hospitals charity, which was great.
And this morning we were in the Kings Walk shopping centre in Gloucester, raising money for the terrific charity Gloucester City Mission; again, collection buckets filled fast. Once again, the choir's obvious enjoyment of the occasion was infectious, and people otherwise focussed on finding those elusive bargains stopped and joined in. I do like Christmas with this choir!
